No Smokey Gray Jerseys For Vols This Season?

The Tennessee Volunteers will take the field at Neyland Stadium on Saturday night for the final time this season.

And when they take the field, they’ll be wearing their traditional Orange and White uniforms, according to UT head coach Butch Jones.

The Vols have worn their Orange & White uniforms for all but one home game this season (they went with all orange against Alabama). The decision, made by the seniors, to wear Orange & White against Missouri means it’s extremely likely that Tennessee will not wear their smokey gray uniforms this season.

Tennessee wore their smokey gray jerseys twice last season. Both instances came at Neyland Stadium.

I think it’s highly unlikely that Tennessee would wear the smokey gray uniforms on the road against Vanderbilt. I also think it’s unlikely they would wear them in a bowl game appearance (assuming the Volunteers do indeed become bowl eligible).

Earlier this month, Jones wouldn’t commit to wearing the smokey gray uniforms this season.

With the Vols switching from Adidas to Nike in 2015, there’s no guarantee the smokey gray will continue to be in Tennessee’s arsenal.

That might not be such a bad thing, considering the Volunteers are 0-2 in the smokey gray jerseys.
