Vols Recruiting: Cam Akers Offered By Tennessee
By Zach Ragan
Cam Akers, a 2017 four-star running back from Clinton, MS (Clinton), was offered by the Tennessee Volunteers on Sunday.
Akers, 5’10″/199 lbs, is rated by 247Sports as the top 2017 player in the state of Mississippi and the sixth best 2017 running back in the nation.
The Mississippi native has offers from Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Ole Miss, in addition to his offer from the Volunteers.
Akers was at Neyland Stadium this past Saturday night for the Vols’ game against Missouri.
Considering the recent success by the schools in Mississippi, it’ll be hard to pull Akers out of state. But, as Butch Jones always says, getting a recruit on campus is half the battle. If UT can get prospective student-athletes on campus, they’re instantly a factor in their recruitment.
