14. Vanderbilt Commodores
Last week: Lost to Mississippi State, 51-0
Stock watch: No change in trend
Vanderbilt, as expected, got completely destroyed by Mississippi State this past week.
After several successful seasons under James Franklin (who moved on to Penn State after the 2013 season), the Commodores are struggling in their first season under Derek Mason.
Things don’t appear to be progressing much for Vandy. However, it’s important to remember that Mason is in his first season ever as a head coach.
But don’t think the Commodores will let him off the hook that easy. Vanderbilt experienced unprecedented success (by Vandy standards) under Franklin. If Mason can’t deliver close to that same success, his time in Nashville won’t last long.
