Isaiah Stokes Offered By Vols
By Zach Ragan
2017 tight end/defensive end Isaiah Stokes was recently offered by the Tennessee Volunteers.
Stokes, a 6’7″/260 lb four-star recruit from Memphis, TN (Lausanne Collegiate School) is the younger brother of former Vols basketball standout Jarnell Stokes.
247Sports rates Stokes as the fourth best 2017 player in Tennessee and the third best 2017 strong-side defensive end in the nation.
UT’s offer to Stokes is his first reported offer.
Stokes is exactly the kind of big/athletic tight end the Vols could use in Butch Jones’ offense.
There was talk of trying to convince Jarnell Stokes to return for his senior season to play football at Tennessee. We’ve seen plenty of basketball players successfully make that transition (Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham).
That obviously never came to fruition, but we could get a glimpse of how it would’ve turned out if the Vols can land the younger Stokes.
It’s not a foregone conclusion that Stokes will end up at Tennessee. But considering Jones’ recent success with Vol legacies, I’d say there’s a very good chance Isaiah Stokes follows in his brother’s footsteps.
