Butch Jones presented walk-on tight end Alex Ellis with an early Christmas present on Monday morning.
There’s still a few days to go until Christmas, but that didn’t stop Butch Jones from handing out a special gift on Monday.
Jones presented redshirt junior tight end Alex Ellis, a walk-on, with a scholarship.
I don’t care how many of these videos you’ve seen, it never gets old seeing a player get rewarded for their hard work.
Ellis, a native of Del Mar, DE, saw his first game action in 2014. He played in all 12 games and drew one start (against Kentucky). Ellis caught six passes for 115 yards and one very memorable touchdown (and touchdown celebration).
Perhaps more impressive than Ellis’ on-the-field ability, is what he’s done off-the-field.
Ellis has found his name on the SEC Academic Honor Roll and is majoring in Biomedical Engineering. He might be the only guy on the team that can give Josh Dobbs a run for his money in the classroom.
