Butch Jones Ain’t Scared Of Nobody
The common myth among Vol fans is that if you’ve heard one Butch Jones’ press conference, you’ve heard them all.
That’s because the Vols’ head coach employees plenty of coach speak. Most of that is because Jones is strategic in everything he does and says. He says a lot by saying a little.
We do know that Jones has the capability of losing it during the flow of a game, all good coaches share that same trait.
Against Iowa, however, we found out that Jones can engage in some snarkiness, as evidenced by his halftime comments about the officiating.
Some folks on social media postulated that perhaps Jones was genuine in his “compliment”.
But judging by the fact that the Pac-12 officiating crew missed a multitude of holds against Tennessee (several of which were captured by USA Today photographer Phil Sears), I’d say his comments were a direct shot at the officiating crew’s porous effort.
Butch Jones might not seem like it at times during his pressers, but he’s an intense coach. One that has winning at the top of his and won’t stop until he has Tennessee back at the top of the SEC.
