Alvin Kamara, Running Back
The lone JUCO player coming in early for the Vols, Alvin Kamara might just be the most highly-anticipated recruit by Vol fans in the 2015 class. One look at his highlight tape shows why.
The No. 2 overall JUCO player in the country possesses dynamic play-making ability with an elite burst of speed and elusiveness. Kamara has the ability to slip out of a defender’s grasp, and once he does, he’s hard to catch.
Kamara committed to Alabama coming out of high school, but after not seeing the field and running into some problems as a freshman, Kamara elected to transfer to Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, the same community college that produced wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson.
In his lone season at Hutchinson, Kamara amassed 1,253 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, adding 18 receptions for 224 yards and 3 scores. He did all that despite missing two games late in the season.
While Jalen Hurd is expected to be the starter at running back in 2015, Kamara will get plenty of work, and enrolling early will only help him. He should give Hurd a run for his money as the starter. Regardless, the two are expected to be one of the best running back tandems in the SEC next season as long as Kamara can live up to the hype.
