Andrew Butcher, Defensive End
The Vols are absolutely stacked at the defensive end position heading into the 2015 season, and Andrew Butcher is another player helping to contribute to the depth at the position.
Butcher, the No. 233 overall player in the nation out of Alpharetta, GA, brings with him an intensity and motor that will not go undervalued by Tennessee’s coaching staff. Butcher was also named to the Under Armour All-America Game, and he looked impressive just like he did throughout the season.
As a senior, Butcher came into his own. Butcher racked up 69 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, 14.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 4 fumble recoveries (according to Max Preps).
Butcher measures in at 6-2, 242 lbs. and runs a 5-second 40-yard dash, displaying an athleticism that will prime him to be a quality pass rusher in the SEC.
Enrolling early can only help Butcher, as he could use to add some weight to his athletic frame. He comes in a little underrated considering his skill set, and he will compete for playing time as a freshman.
