Quinten Dormady, Quarterback

The Vols will be in desperate need of quarterback depth in 2015, and Quinten Dormady looks not only to provide some quality depth behind Josh Dobbs this season, but also to give hope for the position for the future.

Dormady missed his entire junior season due to an injury sustained during the baseball season his sophomore year, but he recovered well his senior season. The No. 190 overall player threw for 3,123 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He also ran for 275 yards and 5 scores.

Dormady possesses great arm strength and good accuracy, but his pocket presence and instincts are what really stand out. His mobility is something that gets overlooked, but he can certainly move when he has to.

While Dormady is labeled as a pro-style QB, keep this in mind: Josh Dobbs was rated as a pro-style QB coming out of high school as well. And Vol fans have seen what Dobbs’s mobility did for the offense this season.

Dormady isn’t quite as athletic as Dobbs, but his ability to run shouldn’t be discarded simply because he’s labeled as a pro-style QB. He ran a more pro-style offense in high school, one that didn’t ask him to run nearly as much. But he has the ability to run when asked.

Dormady has the intangibles and body type that translates well for a QB in the SEC, and he’ll look to compete immediately in 2015. While it is unlikely he’ll unseat Dobbs as the starter, Dormady appears to have a bright future for the Vols.
