9. Derek Barnett Is A Sack Machine
Let me explain.
The above photo is Outland Trophy winner and potential first round draft pick Brandon Scherff holding true freshman Derek Barnett in the Gator Bowl.
Scherff is one of the nation’s best offensive lineman. And he had to do a lot of holding in Iowa’s loss to the Vols in order to slow down Barnett.
But that shouldn’t surprise Vol fans. After all, Barnett was one of the biggest surprises in college football this season.
Sure, the Tennessee native was highly touted coming out of high school (rated by most services as a four-star recruit), but no one could’ve predicted he’d finish the season with 10 sacks (fourth in SEC) and 20.5 tackles for loss (second in SEC).
Tennessee’s defensive line is going to be a force to be reckoned with next season.
