Vols Recruiting: Devante Brooks Commits To Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers added a 2016 brick on Thursday morning, receiving a commitment from 2016 defensive end/tight end Devante Brooks.

Brooks, 6’5″/220 lbs from Washington D.C. (St. Johns College), is rated as four-star recruit in 247Sports’ composite ratings. Those same ratings list him as the 13th best 2016 strong-side defensive end in the nation.

The Washington D.C. native unofficially visited Tennessee on October 11 for the Vols’ game against Chattanooga.

Brooks is a great addition for Butch Jones and his UT staff. The versatile recruit could either be yet another stout defensive lineman for the Vols, or he could be a dangerous offensive weapon as a tight end.

Regardless of which position he plays, it’s always good to get a player that folks predicted would go elsewhere (100% of the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions had Brooks committing to Virginia Tech).

Tennessee has yet to show any signs of letting up in the recruiting game.

And with Butch Jones at the helm, I’m not sure they will.
