Four-Star 2015 Wide Receiver Eliminates Vols

Four-star 2015 wide receiver Ryan Newsome announced on Sunday that on January he’ll be choosing between UCLA and Texas.

Newsome shared the news via a classy tweet that thanked the Vol coaching staff.

The Texas native followed that tweet up with one that specifically thanked Tennessee wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni.

Missing out on Newsome is obviously a blow for the Volunteers. At 5’8″/170 lbs, he’s a perfect fit for Butch Jones’ offense (just look at the success the similarly sized Pig Howard had this past season).

Fortunately for the Vols, however, they’re loaded at the wide receiver position. Tennessee already has a roster ripe with wide receiver talent and they also have one of the top rated wide receivers in the nation (Preston Williams) coming in next season.

Adding Ryan Newsome would’ve been huge for the Vols, but even some of the best recruiters fall short at times.
