Marques Ford Decommits From Vols

Tennessee’s 2015 recruting class suffered a bit of attrition on Wednesday, as defensive end Marques Ford officially decommitted from the Vols.

Ford, a three-star defensive end from Gibsonton, FL (East Bay), committed to Tennessee on July 19, 2014.

The decommitment of Ford is likely a numbers issue. The Vols can only sign so many guys in this recruiting cycle. The number, according to Jimmy Hyams, is expected to be 27-29.

Tennessee is still still hoping to make some splashes in the recruiting world. Current Ole Miss commit Drew Richmond and uncommitted linebacker Quarte Sapp are both high on the Vols’ wish list.

Ford’s departure is a good indication that Tennessee will add a player or two before the ink hits the paper on National Signing Day.
