Dontavius Blair — Offensive Tackle
Redshirt Junior
Most folks, including myself, expected Dontavius Blair to be the Vols’ starting left tackle in 2014.
But that never happened.
Not only was Blair beat out for the starting left tackle job by a former walk-on (Jacob Gilliam), he didn’t even see the field in 2014.
The JuCo transfer, thanks to his redshirt season, still has two years left to make an impact at Tennessee. But 2015 might be Blair’s last opportunity to see significant playing time.
If Blair doesn’t emerge from spring practice as the front-runner to be the Vols’ starting left tackle, then you have to imagine Tennessee will once again look elsewhere. If that turns out to be the case, I don’t think Butch Jones and his staff will go back to Blair.
Unfortunately not all all highly touted recruits live up to the hype.
In 2015, Dontavius Blair needs to prove he’s not going to be a four-star dud.
