Owen Williams — Defensive Tackle
Redshirt Senior
It’s now or never for Owen Williams.
The former JuCo transfer spent the 2014 season as a backup to Danny O’Brien and Jordan Williams, accounting for two sacks and 21 total tackles.
Williams was a serviceable backup, but he’ll be expected to do a lot more this season.
And if he doesn’t, then there are two pretty decent players behind him that will be more than willing to take his spot.
Early enrollee Shy Tuttle and Kahlil McKenzie (one of the top overall players in the nation) are the future of Tennessee’s interior defensive line. There’s no doubt about that.
Owen Williams has the talent to be a big contributor for the Vols this season, but he’ll have to hold off some talented newcomers in his final season in order to cement his legacy at UT.
