Report: Vols QB Nathan Peterman Visiting Pittsburgh

Vols redshirt junior quarterback Nathan Peterman, who was the subject of transfer rumors earlier this month, is reportedly visiting Pittsburgh this weekend.

Peterman has played in 11 games for the Vols during his career. He’s started two of those games (but finished neither).

In those 11 games, Peterman has thrown for 94 yards. He’s also rushed for 52 yards and has one career rushing touchdown.

It’s interesting to note that former Vols offensive coordinator Jim Chaney, who served in that capacity during Peterman’s redshirt season at Tennessee, recently took the same job with Pittsburgh. So a potential transfer definitely makes sense.

If Peterman does indeed transfer to Pittsburgh, it would leave three true freshmen as the backups to Josh Dobbs. But those three freshmen (Quinten Dormady, Jauan Jennings and Sheriron Jones) are all highly touted.

The potential loss of Peterman shouldn’t hurt the Volunteers. He’s a good kid, but his time at Tennessee, unfortunately, hasn’t panned out as the Florida native hoped it would.
