Speculation abounded about Nathan Peterman’s future with the Vols after Tennessee ended its 2014 season with a bowl victory over Iowa on January 2nd, 2015, but those rumors were repeatedly denied by both coaches and players.

Turns out, the rumors are true.

The now former Tennessee quarterback is expected to transfer to the Pittsburgh Panthers, per 247Sports.

The redshirt junior QB played in 11 games for the Vols during his career, making 2 starts, one in 2013 and one in 2014. He completed 20-of-43 passes for 94 yards and 2 interceptions in his Tennessee career, scoring his first collegiate touchdown this past season when he ran in for a score against UT-Chattanooga in mop-up duty.

Peterman was never a fan favorite in his time as a Vol and most notably had one of the worst quarterback performances in recent memory when he started against Florida in 2013, completing 4-of-11 passes for 5 yards and 2 interceptions.

Peterman will be reunited with former Vols offensive coordinator Jim Chaney at Pitt, who was recently hired as Pitt’s offensive coordinator/QB coach, and the Panthers run an offensive system that benefits Peterman’s style of play better. Peterman was visiting Pitt this weekend, and rumors were swirling he was considering transferring to the school. It is unknown if he will be eligible to play immediately.
