Vols Announce Staff Changes
By Zach Ragan
The Tennessee Volunteers announced several staff changes on Friday afternoon.
Mike DeBord will take over for Mike Bajakian as the Vols’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. DeBord, who has previously served as an offensive coordinator at Michigan, most recently served as the Olympic Sports Administrator at Michigan.
Tennessee also announced a promotion for wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni, who has been elevated to passing game coordinator.
Azzanni, who has been a wide receivers coach for the majority of his coaching career, served as offensive coordinator at Western Kentucky during the 2011 season. Azzanni will likely work very closely with the recently hired DeBord in developing and improving Tennessee’s offense.
The Vols also announced that running backs coach Robert Gillespie will be UT’s new recruiting coordinator. Azzanni was previously the Volunteers’ recruiting coordinator.
This is only the second time during Jones’ tenure at Tennessee that major staff changes have been made. The only other change, outside of graduate assistants, was when running backs coach Jay Graham left to take the same position with Florida State. Graham never coached in a game with Jones, as he left shortly after being retained by Jones.
