Quart’e Sapp, Linebacker

Continuing the theme of versatile and athletic defenders in the 2015 class is linebacker Quart’e Sapp of Alpharetta, Georgia.

Sapp is a four-star linebacker with great tackling ability and has a high level of athleticism. At 6-2, 200 lbs, Sapp will definitely need to add weight to play linebacker at the college level,  but he will have ample opportunity to do so with Tennessee’s facilities.

As a junior, Sapp recorded 110 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, 2 interceptions, and forced 2 fumbles, returning one for a score. He also played basketball for Milton High School, averaging 10.7 points per game (according to Max Preps).

What Sapp lacks in bulky size he makes up for in speed and a nose for the ball. Sapp plays very well in space and will likely have opportunites at either outside linebacker position for the Vols. He has a similar frame and playing ability as current Vols Jalen Reeves-Maybin, and if he can contribute on special teams as a freshman like Reeves-Maybin did, he will have an impact for the Vols in 2015.
