Darrell Miller, Defensive Back

Keeping with the trend of physical defensive backs with good size, Tennessee added Darrell Miller of Cedar Hills, Texas to their roster from their 2015 class.

At 5-10, 171 lbs, Miller isn’t quite as big as Justin Martin or Micah Abernathy, but he’s not particularly short either. He’s a physical cornerback with good instincts and can tackle very well.

In 5 recorded games of his senior season, Miller had 8 tackles, a tackle for a loss, a quarterback hurry, 2 interceptions, and 5 passes defended (according to Max Preps).

Miller isn’t as explosive as the other two corners in Tennessee’s 2015 class, but he has good recovery speed and burst, and his length and strength are his best assets. He could be a good role player for the Vols on special teams initially, but he should eventually get a shot to play in the secondary.
