Drew Richmond, Offensive Tackle

The biggest steal in Tennessee’s 2015 class was flipping offensive tackle Drew Richmond from Ole Miss on the day of National Signing Day, and his flip couldn’t have been more important for Butch Jones and the Vols.

Drew Richmond is a four-star offensive tackle and top 100 overall player out of Memphis, and thanks to his flip, the Vols secured the top three players in the state of Tennessee in 2015. Richmond had been committed to Ole Miss since September, but Butch Jones and his staff never gave up on him, using a late push the weekend before National Signing Day to sway Richmond and “complete the 2015 class” as said by Jones himself.

Richmond is the top offensive lineman in the state of Tennessee and is the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country. His size (6-5, 310 lbs) and footwork are his best assets, and his overall game doesn’t need a great deal of fine-tuning.

The Vols’ greatest area of need heading into the 2015 season is at offensive line, and Richmond fits in at their biggest problem area: left tackle. If Richmond doesn’t start as a freshman, he should be able to at least compete for playing time and provide depth in 2015. But he has the ability to be at least a three-year starter for the Vols in his career.
