Peyton Manning Makes Appearance On Saturday Night Live Special
By Zach Ragan
Former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Peyton Manning was one of many former hosts asked to return for Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary special that aired on Sunday evening.
Manning, who hosted the show in 2007, made his first appearance during Steve Martin’s opening monologue, making a quip about getting hit in the head a lot. I’m sure Roger Goodell cringed a bit hearing the joke, considering the fire that NFL player safety has come under as of late.
You can see Manning’s line at the 4:30 mark of the video below (though it’s totally worth watching the whole monologue).
Manning also joined former New York Yankees shortstop, and fellow former SNL host, Derk Jeter on state to honor some of the great athletes that have hosted SNL.
Peyton himself was named by ESPN as one of the 12 best athletes to host SNL.
Manning’s “United Way” skit has become one of the more popular SNL skits of the 2000’s.
