The Georgia Bulldogs have made a handful of NCAA Tournament appearances in the last couple decades, and that gives them a small boost in the rankings over those beneath them. However, the Bulldogs have largely been ineffective whenever they’ve received a tourney berth.

Georgia has been bounced in the 1st round in 8 of their 11 tournament appearances since the expansion to 64 teams in 1985, and in 2 of those 3 other instances, they’ve only won one game. Only in 1996 did they win 2, making it to their only Sweet Sixteen in school history.

The only factor putting Georgia head of Texas A&M is their 2 SEC Tournament championships.

The Bulldogs won the SEC Tournament in 1983 and 2008, and they appeared in the championship game in 1981, 1988, and 1997 as well. Their success in the conference tournament keeps them ahead of the Aggies for now.

While Georgia doesn’t have a stellar NCAA Tournament record, they are supported by a somewhat successful SEC Tournament track record. Their berth in the 2015 field is their 1st since 2011, and they’re searching for their 1st tournament win since 2002.
