Although the Auburn Tigers don’t have as many NCCA Tournament appearances as Georgia or Texas A&M, they’ve made every one of their berths count.

Auburn has won at least one game in every one of their tournament appearances since 1985, making the Sweet Sixteen 4 times and an Elite Eight in 1986. From 1985-2003, the Tigers made 7 NCAA Tournament appearances and were never bounced in the 1st round once.

With that being said, the Tigers have failed to make a tournament appearance since 2003 and have been mired in obscurity for many years since. Even though the future looks bright for Auburn, these rankings are based on past accomplishments, not future promises.

The Tigers have a single SEC Tournament championship to their credit, winning the 1985 Championship Game against Alabama. Auburn also made it to the championship game in 1984 and 2000.

Three SEC Tournament Championship Game appearances, a tournament title, and an Elite Eight appearance aren’t shabby, but it’s certainly not the most prestigious record. Couple that with a major NCAA Tournament drought for now, and the Tigers round out the bottom 5 of the SEC.
