"After a 16-16 season and a loss in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament to No. 21 Arkansas, Tennessee’s season is likely over. The Vols were not selected for the NIT. Friday, head coach Donnie Tyndall indicated they would not accept a lower bid and confirmed that Sunday.“I’m obviously disappointed that we weren’t able to land a spot in the NIT field,” Tyndall said in a statement Sunday night. “I know our fans—who have been unbelievable all season—loved this young team. "Tennessee returned the favor Sunday against South Carolina.The Lady Vols (19-5, 1-2 SEC) run ruled the Gamecocks (20-9, 2-4) in five innings at Beckham Field, posting a 9-1 victory to salvage the final game of a three-game series.Tennessee was run ruled by South Carolina 8-0 in six innings Friday. The loss snapped a 28-game win streak in the series.On Sunday, Gretchen Aucoin continued her hot play, hitting a two-run home run in the first inning that gave the Lady Vols a 2-0 lead.
