"Constructing a historically dominant college basketball roster, like Kentucky’s, is not done without a hefty price tag.The 34-0 Wildcats, who last weekend breezed through the SEC Tournament in Nashville, are known for their efficiency on the court. But can the same be said for the way Kentucky’s team was assembled? How much does a shot at perfection truly cost?Approximately $400,000. That’s how much Kentucky spent on average on men’s basketball recruiting in five years, according to data compiled by USA Today from reports by the schools on NCAA-mandated financial statements. "The first two scheduled starts of Zach Warren’s collegiate career were cancelled because of weather, and the Tennessee freshman left-hander had reason to wish his third one was, too.Warren didn’t take a loss against Morehead State on March 11, but he was lit up for four runs on three hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings.
