One of the fastest rising head coaches in the country, Chris Mack, 45, has helped Xavier become one of the more consistent postseason teams not in the ring of traditional college basketball royalty.
Since 2009, Mack has helped Xavier become a consistent power in the state of Cincinnati. The Musketeers have 20 or more games in 5 of his 6 seasons as head coach, and he’s led them to a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 3 of the team’s 5 NCAA Tournament berths.
Mack has one of the more impressive track records of any young coach not in the top-tier of college basketball, and as such his salary is one of the higher ones on the list for the less established coaches. Mack also recently signed a 2-year extension with Xavier that may have given him an undisclosed pay raise.
While Mack may have a lot of the credentials the Vols look for in a head coach, he doesn’t appear to be a serious candidate at this point for whatever reason.
