Being the brother of a famous head coach can get you places. But Archie Miller, 36, has proven himself regardless of who he’s related to.

Archie Miller is the younger brother of Arizona head coach Sean Miller, and he served as an assistant under him at Arizona from 2009-11. After those 2 seasons, the younger Miller accepted a head coaching position at Dayton, and he’s made a name for himself as head coach of the Flyers.

In his 4 seasons as Dayton head coach, the Flyers have won 20 or more games in 3 of his 4 seasons, including 27 in 2014-15. His Flyers have also made the NCAA Tournament the last 2 seasons, and they made it as far as the Elite Eight in 2014. Dayton won a game in the 2015 tournament as well before falling to Oklahoma.

Miller signed an extension with Dayton in the middle of that Elite Eight run in 2014, but financial information about the contract was not disclosed. However, the Flyers are obviously doing everything they can to hold on to their highly regarded head coach.

Miller is extremely young, but he’s already done more in 4 seasons than a lot of coaches have done in over double that time. While he is very young, the Vols would be wise to look his way during their coaching search.
