Vols Basketball: Alterique Gilbert Offered By Tennessee

New Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes continued his search for fresh talent this week by offering four-star point guard Alterique Gilbert.

Gilbert is a 5’10″/155 lb point guard from Lithonia, GA (Miller Grove). 247Sports’ composite rankings rate him as the second best player in the state of Georgia and the 12th best point guard in the nation.
Gilbert, who will take an official visit to UCONN this weekend, also has offers from Florida State, Illinois, Maryland, Ole Miss and Texas Tech, among several others.
Barnes, who recently offered Nick Rakocevic, is getting right to work on Rocky Top by going after some of the nation’s top players.
The Vols have a proven winner in Rick Barnes. His track record should bring stability to Tennessee’s basketball program over the next few years.
