Vols head coach Butch Jones spoke to the media on Tuesday after Tennessee’s 13th spring practice.
Here’s what Jones said that you should know, as we approach the Vols’ annual Orange & White game this weekend.
- Jones said that Charles Mosley, who moved to offensive line after working along the defensive line for 12 practices, has natural instincts when it comes to playing offensive line. Jones stated that Mosley will still play on the defensive line in the spring game.
- Josh Smith was praised for his return to form. You can read more about Smith here.
- Von Pearson was also praised for having a good day.
- Jones said he wants to play 10-13 wide receivers, but he acknowledged that wide receiver depth isn’t where it needs to be for that to happen.
- Shy Tuttle was praised by Jones for his football intelligence. Jones also stressed the importance of spring practice for Tuttle, who he says is learning to fight through mental and physical fatigue.
- Jones was quite happy to discuss the defensive line meeting room. He said the defensive line meeting room was dynamic and as interactive as he’s seen in a long time.
- Peyton Manning will at the spring game this weekend and Jones said there will be a “Wide Receiver U” reunion as well.
- Josh Dobbs was semi-live on Tuesday and took a few hits from the defensive line.
