Spring practices are over now, so it’s time to look ahead and see which Vols will be projected starters heading into the fall. PHOTO: Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports
With the Orange and White game now in the books, the offseason has officially begun for the Vols. The Vols were once again a young team entering the spring, but many of those young players learned valuable lessons during the 15 spring practices.
Butch Jones and his staff welcomed in 10 early enrollees this spring, and those newcomers benefited greatly from the early reps. Even those who didn’t participate due to injuries were able to benefit from time in the weight room and were able to learn from older players.
As a whole, the Vols were pretty banged up in the spring. Almost a dozen projected starters or players in the two-deep depth chart once the season begins did not participate or were extremely limited during spring practices, and that allowed many young and unheralded players to take advantage.
The Vols will welcome in another 20 or so players in the fall, but here is how we think the depth chart looks to shake up at the start of fall camp and before the last of the 2015 class makes their arrival. Who is listed on here now is based solely on what they did in the spring and doesn’t take into consideration who joins in the fall.
