Vols Recruiting Target Names Leader

Class of 2017 Vols recruiting target Maleik Gray named a leader this past weekend.

Unfortunately for UT fans, Gray named Florida State as his current leader.

Gray is a 6’3″/202 lb four-star athlete from La Vergne, TN (Lavergne), which is about two and a half hours from Knoxville.

247Sports rates Gray as the third best 2017 player in the state of Tennessee and the sixth best 2017 athlete in the nation.

Butch Jones promised to own the state of Tennessee when he arrived on Rocky Top.

He’s more than lived up to that promise.

Jones has landed some of the best talent the state of Tennessee has ever seen. Players like Derek Barnett, Jalen Hurd, Josh Malone and Jalen Reeves-Maybin, just to name a few.

So Gray, being from the midstate area, is obviously a player that Jones and his staff want to land.

And then there’s the fact that he’s extremely talented.

Tennessee has plenty of time (21 months to be exact) to close the gap on Gray.

Gray visited Tennessee last October for the Vols’ game against Florida. Jones and his staff will likely try to get him back on campus again this season.
