Expectations were high for Jalen Hurd coming out of high school as a five-star recruit.

Hurd more than lived up to the hype as a true freshman, quickly becoming the Volunteers’ go-to running back.

The Tennessee native rushed for 899 yards and five touchdowns in 2014. He also added 221 yards and two touchdowns on 35 receptions.

Hurd did all of his damage as a freshman, running behind an offensive line that left a lot to be desired.

With a frame that resembles former running back Eddie Georgie, Hurd is well on his way to playing on Sundays.

Fortunately for the Vols, Hurd still has to play at least two more seasons at Tennessee before he can depart for the NFL.
