Bleacher Report Ranks Toughest SEC Road Enviroments

Bleacher Report’s Barrett Sallee recently ranked the SEC’s toughest road enviroments and Neyland Stadium made his top five, coming in at number four.

Here’s what Sallee had to say about Neyland:

"Tennessee fans took things to the next level against Florida in 2014 when the famous checkerboard end zones were extended to the stands for “Checker Neyland.”Sitting on the banks of the Tennessee River, the 102,455-seat behemoth rises straight up from the edge of Tennessee’s Knoxville campus, creating one of the loudest atmospheres in the country.Fans clad in orange and white are packed in tight in the cozy confines of Neyland, and they have been desperate for a winner ever since the SEC East title year of 2007. Head coach Butch Jones has brought back the magic to a point, leading the program to a bowl game in 2014 for the first time since 2010, and he has the Vols on the brink of jumping back into SEC East relevancy. When that happens, the noise inside Neyland will be next-level."

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Neyland climb this list in the next few years. The only reason Neyland isn’t higher this year is because the Volunteers haven’t been that great at home the past few seasons.

But when the Vols do return to greatness (possibly as soon as this upcoming season), there’s no doubt that Neyland will be one of the toughest places to play in the country.

When Neyland is rocking, there isn’t a better place to watch a college football game.
