Butch Jones and the Tennessee Volunteers made national headlines last week after a video of Jones voicing his displeasure for “Sweet Home Alabama” was passed around social media.
The video was so well done that I just assumed the whole thing was scripted.
But on Tuesday, Jones said the video wasn’t scripted at all.
JONES: (On 'Sweet Home Alabama') I hope it doesn't play again. That was fun but it was not scripted. We are UT & we are Rocky Top!

Of course Jones would never admit if it actually was scripted, but there is a really good chance it wasn’t.
Tennessee, since Jones’ arrival, has documented almost every moment via video. That’s just how Jones operates.
Jones and the Volunteers are experts at branding. They capitalize on every moment, hoping to gain some national attention.
Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t.
In this case, it was wise to keep the cameras rolling.
And Jones, perhaps sensing a moment that could go viral, was happy to go along with the search.
