"Vols outfielder Christian Stewart was selected 34th overall by the Detroit Tigers in the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.Stewart is the first Vol to be drafted in the first round since Kentrail Davis went 39th overall to the Milwaukee Brewers in 2009, and he’s the fifth first-round pick produced by Tennessee since 2007.Stewart primarily played left field for the Vols in 2015, setting career highs in homers (15) and RBI (47).The Georgia native hit .311 in 2015, and has a career average of .319 at UT.Stewart is a two-time first-team All-SEC player.Read more at WBIR"

"Former Tennessee assistant Larry Simcox has been hired to be the Vols’ new hitting and infielders coach, UT announced Monday.Simcox spent 17 years at Tennessee from 1991-2007, helping the Vols to three appearances in the College World Series. He takes over for Greg Bergeron, who resigned last month after the Vols finished 24-26 and in 12th-place in the SEC with the fewest runs in the conference.Simcox is the father of Tennessee starting shortstop A.J.
