Pre-season all-conference teams don’t mean much in the grand scheme of things, but they do provide a glimpse at how much talent a team has.
The 2015 Tennessee Volunteers are expected to compete for the SEC East crown for the first time in nearly a decade and according to Athlon Sports, they’ll have the talent to do just that.
Seven Vols were named to Athlon Sports 2015 pre-season All-SEC teams.
Defensive end Derek Barnett was the lone Vol to be named to the first team defense.
Defensive end Curt Maggitt, safety Brian Randolph and cornerback Cam Sutton were all named to the second team defense (Sutton was also named to the fourth team specialists).
Quarterback Joshua Dobbs, running back Jalen Hurd and wide receiver Marquez North were each named to the third team offense.
Tennessee has the talent to make a lot of noise in the SEC this upcoming season. And I definitely think they will.
It’s been a long time since Vol fans have been this excited about a team.
Though it’s understandable if some fans are still a bit skeptical. The Vols haven’t exactly delivered in recent years.
But big things are coming for UT and I fully believe this is the year it turns around.
