The University of Tennessee men’s basketball team will be facing off against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for the next four years.

The Vols currently have a 15 win lead in the series as it sets at 42-27.

The last time the two programs faced each other came in 2004 with the big orange dropping a home game 77-62. That year was of course the last of the guy known as Michael Jordan’s college teammate. Buzz Peterson and crew went 14-17 that season with C.J. Watson running the point guard position, and it was also the first year of Tennessee legend Chris Lofton.

Although a rough year in the final season of Peterson, the Georgia Tech loss was understandable. There are currently three players in the NBA from the 2004 team that took down the Vols. Those players are Will Bynum (Washington Wizards), Jarrett Jack (Brooklyn Nets), and Anthony Morrow (Oklahoma City Thunder).

However, Tennessee does still have the lead in the series, and had won the previous eight games before the 2004 loss.

The most memorable moment in the series of course came in the 2002-03 season when Jon Higgins hit a half court shot for the 70-69 win.

The first game will be held at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta on Nov. 16.
