Current Quarterback Commitments

Jarrett Guarantano: Oradell, N.J. (Bergen Catholic)

Of all the quarterbacks Jones has brought in the past two years in plans to find Josh Dobbs’s successor, Jarrett Guarantano might be the best fit for the Vols offense overall.

Having announced his commitment in April, Guarantano is the No. 4 rated dual-threat quarterback in the country on Rivals right now. And the Jersey kid made his announcement in epic fashion on Times Square.

Guarantano was listed on 247 as running a 4.52-40, which is wide receiver speed, and he is 6’4″ and 195 to 200 pounds.  He also clocked in a 40-time at 4.45 second at one point.

This makes the perfect quarterback to run Jones’s offense. He is very accurate, throws well on the run, and has an amazing deep ball. The only concern with him is that he has not really been tested, and if you watch the video, he has never had to demonstrate the ability to throw with a guy in his face.

But he does have good footwork and picks up blitzes well. And right now he is the only quarterback committed for this class, but that’s okay.

Here are a few other guys the Vols are pursuing.
