Overall Quarterback Evaluation

Regardless of what happens to the Tennessee Vols the rest of the year for the 2016 recruiting class, there is not much to worry about at the quarterback position. Butch Jones has stocked the cupboard enough that things should be fine.

Sheriron Jones, Jauan Jennings, Quinten Dormady were all major pick-ups, and even with the major charges facing Jennings, which you can read about here, the program does not really have anything to worry about.

Jones and Dormady provide lots of diversity at the position and give the coaching staff a very good opportunity at open competition in a couple of years.

The addition of Jarrett Guarantano, who is a dual-threat quarterback that has demonstrated an ability to be strictly a pocket-passer, only makes things more exciting.

If the Vols get one of the other two quarterbacks they are pursuing, great. If not, they still have three, possibly four elite guys on the roster who will have a chance to fight for the backup role and for the starting job in a couple of years.

Did I mention that Josh Dobbs is still on the roster for two more years and there is the 2017 recruiting class where Butch Jones could even pick up a few more prospects at the position before Dobbs leaves?
