4. The defense is confident

Listening to Curt Maggitt and Cameron Sutton talk on Tuesday provided the same vibe in different ways. They both appear to be comfortable not just with pressure but with how good they are on their own.

Maggitt, as the senior and the veteran, went out on a limb and made it clear that he thinks he will be a part of the best pass-rushing tandem in the SEC this year. While that shows extreme confidence, it also could be true when you consider Derek Barnett on the team as well.

At the same time, Cameron Sutton came onto the scene and still exuded a major level of confidence in a different way. He did not appear bothered at all when asked about being left off the preseason Lott Watch List as a defensive back, but instead of saying it is disrespectful or anything, he quietly said he will let his play do the talking.

Now, yes, it’s hard to really prop him up for that, because what is he supposed to say? But Sutton has proven himself well the past two years and does not seem to care at all about the attention he receives.

If the rest of the defense feeds off of these two guys, then things should be fine this year.
