Offensive Guard Projected Depth Chart

Left Guard: Marcus Jackson, Senior (Vero Beach, Fla.)

A fifth-year senior, Marcus Jackson will help to provide significant veteran leadership on the left side of the offensive line. Jackson stands at 6’2″ 318 pounds and finally got to see some action after staying in the program for three years.

This year, he should be even better as last year he had to come off of not playing the entire 2013 season. With more experience now and plenty of years in the program, we should see the four-star potential pay off, especially after starting 12 games last year.

Right Guard: Jashon Robertson, Sophomore (Nashville, Tenn.)

We stick with one of the homegrown prospects, and this is a bright one. Jashon Robertson, at 6’3″ 310 pounds, came onto campus as a defensive lineman and made the switch to offensive guard during the offseason. The result was a freshman All-American last year, one of the bright spots of the line.

This year, Robertson looks to be even better. He showed lots of versatility in the spring by seeing time at Center, and he will definitely be able to see action there, but his roots will still be at right guard. So expect him to be very good this year, which is one of the things that is almost a sure bet if he stays healthy.

Backups

Venzell Boulware, Freshman (Fairburn, Ga.)

This is where the guard situation gets a bit murky simply due to the fact that there are no veterans on the second team. But Venzell Boulware is an incoming freshman who could make an immediate impact.

At 6’3″ 295 pounds, the four-star on Rivals is very likely to see some action in the rotation this year, particularly if there are injuries. And he will at least provide some raw depth on the inside of the offensive line.

Zach Stewart, Freshman (Coalfield, Tenn.)

Right there with Venzell Boulware should be Zach Stewart, who is clearly a born and raised Vol for Life. Stewart is a 6’4″ 320 pound guard who will definitely provide depth and see some action in the rotation this year as the Vols try to go deep.

The four-star on Rivals has a lot of potential and will be perfect for Tennessee on the inside in the future as long as he develops.
