A lot of folks outside of Tennessee probably view country singer Kenny Chesney as the school’s most famous supporter in the world of entertainers.
And while Chesney does support the Vols (despite his odd friendship with Steve Spurrier and penchant for wearing other team’s helmets at his concerts), it’s legendary singer/songwriter Charlie Daniels that Tennessee natives will tell you is the biggest supporter of the Vols within the entertainment industry.
Daniels, who is actually a native of eastern North Carolina, makes his home near Nashville and is very vocal about his support for the Volunteers.
On Tuesday, Daniels took to Sirius radio to show his enthusiasm for the upcoming season at Neyland and to support UT head coach Butch Jones.
Daniels is with the rest of the college football world in expecting big things for Tennessee this upcoming season.
The Vols have a chance to do something in 2015 that they haven’t done in nearly a decade — compete for the SEC East crown.
Tennessee has some lofty expectations on them this season, but most folks aren’t actually picking them to win the SEC East. I know those things are trivial, but considering almost no one gets that stuff right, it’s something that could bode well for the Vols.
