Vols Football: Mike DeBord Doesn’t Play Around

The hype train for the 2015 Tennessee Volunteers is out of control at this point — as you’re probably well aware.

And for what it’s worth, you can count me among those that think the Vols are in for a special season.

But don’t just assume that Tennessee is where they need to be.

If you don’t believe me, just ask first year Vols offensive coordinator Mike DeBord, someone who did not have kind words for the UT offense on Monday.

Ouch. Those are harsh words.

But, again as you’re well aware, these are the dog days of summer. And these are also college kids we’re talking about. They’re going to have some off days.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the Vol offense. They have too much talent to be worried about them in early August.

DeBord is simply trying to motivate his players. It’s easy for kids to get in a rut and he’s trying to prevent that before it happens.

This Tennessee football team, which is essentially the same team as last season (except with more talent) has shown plenty of intensity.

Tennessee is going to win some big games this season. Some games that make fans of other teams say “uh-oh, the Big Orange is back”.

Don’t fret Vol fans, good times are ahead on Rocky Top. Mike DeBord might be giving his offense a hard time, but that’s only because he expects this team to compete for the SEC East this season.

And to be honest, I think it’ll be a huge let down if the Vols aren’t playing in Atlanta come December.

Tennessee has enough talent that they should finally rise above the rest of the SEC East this upcoming season.
