Vols Football: Marquez North Injury Considered Minor
By Zach Ragan
Early On Thursday, Vols fans were fearing that star wide receiver Marquez North would possibly be lost for the season.
Welcome to August, best known as the month where freak injuries happen in camp and rumors swirl of injuries that aren’t nearly as significantly as they’re made out to be.
Fortunately for Vol fans, wide receiver Marquez North’s injury falls in the second category.
Rumors began circulating on Thursday morning that North had suffered a significant knee injury.
Panic increased when the Vols canceled their morning practice.
But, as is often the case, North’s injury was blown out of proportion and it appears he will miss minimal time.
North, a junior who is already considered a potential NFL prospect by some analysts, will be key to the Volunteers’ offense this season. Tennessee can definitely not afford to lose him (even with Von Pearson and Josh Smith returning to the team).
The North Carolina native wasn’t fully healthy last season and his production suffered. This obviously isn’t a good start to the off-season for North, but hopefully for the Vols he can rest his knee and get healthy before the season starts in less than a month.
