Vols 2015 Stat Projections: Von Pearson
By Zach Ragan
A couple of months ago, it wasn’t a certainty that senior wide receiver Von Pearson would even play for the Tennessee Volunteers this season.
But after being cleared in a sexual assault case from last April, Pearson is ready to go and primed to be a contributor for the Vols in 2015.
Pearson, a JuCo transfer who is entering his second season with Tennessee, immediately drew comparisons to one-year Vol wonder Cordarrelle Patterson after enrolling at UT last year.
The Virginia native didn’t have quite the same impact that Patterson did in 2012, but he did prove to be one of the Vols’ top offensive weapons last season.
Pearson ended up catching 38 passes for 393 yards and five touchdowns in eleven games.
I can definitely see Pearson improving on those numbers with Josh Dobbs firmly entrenched as Tennessee’s starting quarterback. Pearson’s best game last season came in the Vols’ bowl win against Iowa. The 6’0″/183 lb wide receiver caught seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown against the Hawkeyes.
Hopefully for Butch Jones and the Vols, Pearson can continue to put up numbers like those.
