Projected 2015 SEC Champion: Alabama Crimson Tide

The SEC is supposed to be wide open this year, Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide lose everybody on offense and appear to be in rebuilding mode.

But wouldn’t you know it? They are once again the favorite to win the SEC Championship. And quite honestly, you can’t blame anybody for picking them.

  • The Tide have had the No. 1 recruiting class six of the past eight years and a No. 2 class another year, meaning they should never have any trouble actually rebuilding. They simply need to reload.

Also, on offense, all Saban has ever had to do is find massive offensive linemen, a great running back, one playmaker at receiver, and a quarterback who is competent in order to have the offense he wants. He has all of those things at Alabama right now, and the lack of experience is irrelevant.

Add in the brilliant offensive mind of Lane Kiffin, and the unit as a whole should be fine. Jacob Coker is the favorite to start at quarterback, and while there are questions surrounding him, he has a huge arm, and working with Kiffin should do wonders for him,

So the offense should be okay. Moving over to the defense, this unit is absolutely loaded.

Defense remains Alabama’s bread and butter, and the Tide return eight starters on the unit, including the potentially best defensive line in the country. This football team will once again dominate games in the trenches, and it will start on this side of the ball.

So yes, lots of starters are gone. But with Alabama, that’s nothing to worry about. The coaching staff is elite enough and Saban has recruited well enough that the Tide should reload where they lost players.

And they’ll once again be dominant, which is why they are once again the favorite to win the SEC Championship.
