11. Western Carolina Catamounts
This is obviously a game that is the exact opposite of the one we just mentioned. The Western Carolina Catamounts are one of the least important games of the year simply due to how easy this game should be.

The Vols are all but a sure bet to win this game, and it will even come across as a completely unimportant game given the fact that it is between games against the Oklahoma Sooners and the Florida Gators.
In fact, the timing of this game is the one thing that makes it a bit important. Losing this game would clearly be disastrous, so it is a nothing to gain everything to lose type of game. And coming where it is, this is clearly a trap game, so there is plenty to be concerned about if you are a Vols fan.
The Catamounts are a solid FCS team who could give the Tennessee football team a bit of trouble if you reach for some importance here. But back to reality, there is no way Tennessee should have any trouble getting past these guys for an easy win.
And they will already have a good read on where they are as a football team going into this game given where it lies. Hopefully for Vol Nation, they will be coming off of a win against the Oklahoma Sooners, which will be huge going forward.
So Western Carolina is clearly not an important game simply because the Vols should not lose this game. But at the same time, it is clearly a game they can’t lose.
