Again, power rankings are based on what you are doing at the time. The LSU Tigers are still probably a heck of a lot better than the No. 6 ranked team in the SEC this year when you take a look at their talent, but other teams proved how good they were as much as they could this past week.

And they earned spots in place of LSU,

The Tigers still have an elite defense and an elite running game, two things we are 100 percent certain will be among the best in the country and may be the best in the country period. But they still have to show what they can do in the passing game before they can move up these rankings.

If they don’t, then they will fall a lot further below where they are now. This weekend’s match-up with the Mississippi State Bulldogs will tell us a lot about them and the Dawgs. So get ready.

Last week: Cancelled Game vs. McNeese State Cowboys
Last rank: 3

They did not play Saturday except for a few minutes, and unfortunately that was enough to drop the LSU Tigers three spots. After all, Les Miles’s squad was playing McNeese State, as bad as a team could be, and they could not score in the five minutes they were actually on the field.

So they did not do anything to stay in the Top Three and cannot completely use an open date as an excuse. That means they have got to be here at No. 6 just for this week.
