How could you not expect this to be a tight game?

But the Bulldogs still should have pulled out the victory and came very close to doing so, so we will still keep them high on this list as one of the better teams in the conference.

Prescott clearly has that Tebow clutch gene where he can will his team to victory in the end, and he did everything he possibly could to achieve just that over the weekend. The defense, despite struggling throughout the game and clearly missing all the guys it lost, still managed to show that it can come through in pressure situations as well after multiple stops at the end.

So Prescott and Co. still have a good team. But they will be tested again in two weeks with back to back road games against Auburn and Texas A&M.

Mississippi State Bulldogs 1-1 (0-1)

Last week: Lost to LSU Tigers 21-19
Last rank: 13

After looking hideous against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles two Saturdays ago, the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Dan Mullen actually gained respect with how they played the LSU Tigers last week. Sure, it was at home, and sure, it was a loss. But this is a loss that deserves a lot more respect than most teams’ wins on here, so they belong in the top half of the SEC still.

Dak Prescott and Co. showed they are not that much different from last year’s team, despite all the losses. That sounds odd given how they blew out LSU in Death Valley last year, but this LSU team is much more experienced and improved with the best running back in maybe college football.
